The Department of Transfusion Medicine (Blood Bank) of All Is Well Multispecialty Hospital is, licensed by the Food and Drug Administration. We are a member of the State Blood Transfusion Council and a member of the Federation of Blood Bank.
Our objective is to be able to provide the best blood transfusion practices. We would like to ensure highest quality of services, operating efficiencies, donor satisfaction and improved patient care.
The department plays a vital role in patient care and is actively associated with rational use of blood and blood components. A team of committed doctors with well trained medical staff and trained counsellors ensure best practices in all aspects of blood transfusion including donor selection procedures, donor bleeding, component preparation while performing serological procedures for blood group and screening for transfusion transmitted infections.
Technology & Infrastructure
The Blood Bank endeavours to supply safest possible blood and blood components every time. Ensuring safety begins with diligent check of donor’s medical history and physical examination.
The immunohaematology laboratory performs donor and patient blood group analysis, Rh phenotyping, antibody screening and antibody identification using a fully automated system from Immucor. Advanced work-up such as auto/allo adsorption, elution, extended antigen typing and platelet crossmatch are undertaken to solve difficult cases.
Other advanced technologies like leucocyte reduction, irregular antibody screen etc. is also available – these help in reducing the chances of adverse reactions. Use of sterile connecting device makes it possible for us to provide blood components in aliquots for paediatric transfusions.
Apheresis: The area is equipped with fully automated cell separator, which can be programmed to produce various components and perform various therapeutic procedures. The various procedures undertaken include Plateletpheresis.
